Two Sikh traders were shot dead in Pakistan...


Two Sikh brothers have been shot dead in broad daylight in Pakistan. The incident happened when both the brothers were sitting at their spice shop in Peshawar. At the same time, unknown assailants came on a motorcycle and shot them and escaped. There have been continuous reports of attacks on other minorities including Sikhs and Hindus in Pakistan.


The dead have been identified

Both the brothers have been identified. The names of the dead are Suljit Singh (42) and Ranjit Singh (38). Both of them used to do spice business here, khyber pakhtunkhwa chief minister Mahmood Khan has taken cognizance of the incident. He has described the incident as disappointing and also talked about the right action.

CM took cognizance of the incident, expressed sympathy for the victim's family

Chief minister Mehmood Khan has called for a report from the police officers in this matter. He has asked the IG to take strict action. The search is on for the accused attackers. The chief minister said that no accused would be able to escape from the clutches of law. He said that this incident is an attempt to disturb the peaceful atmosphere and religious harmony in the city. 

Second incident in 8 months

Atrocities against minorities are not new in Pakistan. Earlier in september 2021, Hakim Sardar Satnam Singh, who came from the Sikh community, was shot dead. He was also murdered while he was sitting at his drugstore.
