China begins building second-bridge?....

A day after reports of china building a second bridge near Pangong in eastern Ladakh, the Ministry of External Affairs said on thursday that according to reports, the area where the construction work is being carried out has been occupied by that country for decades. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said in the press conference that india keeps an eye on such developments.

"We have seen media reports and other reports about the so-called bridge... some have called it another bridge or an extension of the existing one," he said.

Bagchi said that india has always believed that the area mentioned in the news is under the possession of the Chinese side for decades. The spokesperson was asked a question about reports of china building a second bridge near Pangong. Bagchi said that india has held several rounds of talks at diplomatic and military level with the Chinese side and will continue to do so.

"You would know that in March, Chinese Foreign minister Wang Yi had come here and the Foreign minister (Jaishankar) had conveyed our expectations to him," he said.

External Affairs minister Jaishankar later told the media that normalcy could not be restored in the two countries amid tensions and conflicts arising out of the deployment by the Chinese side in april 2020, the External Affairs Ministry spokesperson said. "Therefore, we will continue to communicate with the Chinese side at the diplomatic and military level to ensure that the instructions of the two ministers are fully complied with," Bagchi said.

Informed sources had told on wednesday that a second bridge is being built by the Chinese side near the strategically important Pangong in eastern Ladakh.
