Then shiv sena contested 169 seats and bjp on 116 seats. As a result, shiv sena won 73 seats, and forfeited 60 seats, while bjp won 65 seats and forfeited 25 seats. The alliance's total seats were 138, and with the support of independent MLAs, the Shiv Sena-BJP managed to form the government. Shiv Sena's manohar joshi became the chief minister and BJP's Gopinath Munde the Deputy Chief Minister. In february 2019, the BJP-Shiv Sena allied the lok sabha elections. In 48-seat maharashtra, the shiv sena was adamant on a 50-50 formula. In the end, bjp fought on 25 seats and shiv sena on 23 seats. narendra modi made only arvind sawant a minister from the shiv sena quota in his central government. When bjp gave 126 seats to Shiv Sena. This happened for the first time that shiv sena fought less than 150 seats in an alliance. Then bjp got 105 seats and shiv sena 56 seats.
