Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh has continued the tradition of organizing special meetings and camps on vijayadashami every year. RSS organized vijayadashami celebrations on a grand scale in Nagpur, Maharashtra. women mountaineer and padma shri awardee Santhosh Yadav was the chief guest of the event. She climbed Everest twice in 1992 and 1993. This is the first time that a woman is attending the RSS vijayadashami celebrations as the chief guest.

RSS Sarsangchalak Mohan Bhagwat spoke in the open meeting organized on this occasion. It is clear that religious disparity has increased in the country. It is believed that some tough decisions need to be taken in this regard. It is stated that due to the increase in population, the religious balance has been affected and the focus should be on controlling it. It is suggested to introduce population control system for this. Mohan Bhagwat expressed his concern that actions to create distance and enmity between different sections of the society are going on arbitrarily on the basis of selfishness and hatred. Irrespective of language, religion, region and policy, they should not get caught up in the magic of their lectures. Mohan Bhagwat opined that those who increase enmity between people should be dealt with ruthlessly. Mohan Bhagwat said that when there is population imbalance in the country, the geographical boundaries will also change. 

He concluded that the disparity in the birth rate was not correct. He commented that forced conversion and infiltration are also the main reasons in the country. He said that the population policy should be formulated after considering all matters comprehensively and it should be applied equally to all. Mohan Bhagwat said that steps should be taken to create awareness among the people about population growth and religious imbalance, only then population control rules will be effective. He clarified that there is a widespread discussion on the concept of Hindu Rashtra and many people agree with it. It is said that some people are avoiding the word `Hindu' and prefer to use another word instead. Mohan Bhagwat said that when a wrong is done, the number of people who should question it should increase and it should be under the law. He concluded that some people are of the opinion that minorities are in danger due to RSS and that is not right. It is explained that it is not the nature of RSS or Hindus to commit attacks. He said that RSS always upholds brotherhood, fraternity and peaceful environment.
