The supreme court of the country recently said that the supreme court should release those who are guilty in connection with the murder of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. As a result, it is known that those who have been in jail for decades are coming out. However,  an unexpected development took place in this case. The Center has approached the supreme court stating its objections regarding the release of the convicts in the Rajiv murder case.

The Modi government recently filed a petition in the supreme court seeking a review of the decision to release the convicts. It is stated in the petition that the release of the convicts was done without proper investigation. The Center stated that their jail life has become a political issue in tamil Nadu for three decades. Four out of the six convicts are from Sri Lanka. It is said that giving amnesty to those who have been branded as terrorists will have an international impact. Clarifying that the Center is also a part of this case, it is not justified to release them without hearing their arguments.

A petition was filed alleging that it was wrong to take the decision of the supreme court without asking the Center for its advice, without implicating the Center in the matter of release. We have to see how the supreme will react on this matter. On the other hand, it is known that congress has made it clear that even if the victim's family, Sonia's family members have forgiven them, they cannot forgive them. On the other hand, it is known that tamil Nadu ruling party DMK and opposition AIADMK welcome the release of those who have been imprisoned for thirty years.
