Chennai sources stated that Tamilnadu Minister D Jayakumar took a jibe against his rival DMK chief Stalin on thursday as early trends show AIADMK taking a lead in two Assembly seats in bye-election. He told "Through this election, DMK chief Stalin wanted his son Udhayanidhi's entry into politics and many senior party leaders were overruled. So, senior leaders of the party will now be happy to see Udhayanidhi's defeat”.

Furthermore Vikravandi and Nanuguri Assembly constituencies went to by-polls were held on October 21. Bye-election to Nanguneri assembly seat was necessitated as its MLA H Vasantha Kumar was elected to the Lok Sabha. Vikravandi bypoll was held due to the death of its sitting DMK MLA K Radhamani in June. AIADMK's V Narayana was leading in the Nanguneri assembly constituency with 24268 votes and DMK's R Manoharan is his closest rival with 15555 votes.



Moreover twenty-four candidates had filed their nominations for the Nanguneri assembly constituency. Nanguneri seat went vacant after the sitting MLA Congress' h vasanthakumar was elected to lok sabha and in Vikravandi constituency, party's R Muthamilselvan was leading the race with 75867 votes and rival N Pugazhenthi's is trailing in the second spot with 46283 votes. Perhaps the voting for the two seats took place on October 21.
