andhra pradesh government seems to have started preparing to handle any untoward incident that may occur after the announcement of the trifurcation of the Capital. The government had invoked the National Security Act in the State under which any person can be detained by the police for three months without stating any reason. The Act also has provisions to extend the detention by another three months.

The State government empowers all district Collectors, district Magistrates and police Commissioners with NSA power. Anyone can face preventive detention for a minimum of three months in andhra pradesh now. Principal Opposition, tdp says that it is bracing up for a legal fight against this particular G.O. "Unable to suppress the #SaveAmaravati movement, ap Govt has resorted to oppressing the people. With this order, the Govt can detain a person for up to 3 months, in any part of the State. If this not oppression then what is? Where is the #threat to #NationalSecurity in the State? (sic)," tdp mp, galla jayadev wrote on his twitter account.

However, a top cop speaking on anonymity to APHerald.com says that it is a routine affair and after every three-month state government issue orders extending NSA detention powers. He adds the routine affair is being colored as abnormal so as to create the unrest between the people at this sensitive time.
