Reportedly sitting mla and AAP's Jarnail Singh leading in Tilak nagar with a comfortable margin. Meanwhile having bagged 4,481 votes so far, Singh has raced past AAP's Rajiv Babbar with a margin of over 1,600 votes. Furthermore due to large the Sikh population, Tilak nagar is considered a hostile seat for the Congress. So far, the party's candidate Raminder Singh has got only 91 votes. The constituency had been a bjp bastion for long, before AAP emerged victorious there in 2015.

Currently two rounds of counting are complete and on many seats the difference between the leading candidate and the trailing one is quite narrow. However, it is already evident that even if AAP retains mandate in delhi, the bjp has taken the fight to AAP with congress emerging as an inconsequential force. Perhaps this belies exit poll claims that AAP will sweep delhi again. Interestingly, the bjp seems to be leading in areas around shaheen Bagh, which would indicate that continued inconvenience has found expression in the ballot box. At this stage, the trend indicates that shaheen Bagh was indeed a consequential poll issue.

Moreover the congress,on the other hand, has given the ticket to Sikh, Amandeep Singh Sudan. The incumbent mla from this seat is Manjinder Singh Sirsa of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), an ally of the BJP. However, this time, the constituency will elect a new MLA. Apparently the punjabi hindu and Sikh communities are influential in this constituency, which is a residential and commercial area. The area itself came into existence after the Partition of 1947.
