Reportedly as domestic flight services resume in india on May 25, the government on thursday released detailed guidelines for passengers and airport operators for recommencement of the operations. In the SOP released by the government, shortly after AAI issued guidelines, the Civil Aviation Ministry said it will prescribe lower and upper limit on air fares and airlines will have to adhere to it during the period of coronavirus pandemic. 

 

The Aviation Ministry said about a third of flight operations will be allowed on the day of commencement. From May 25, only passengers with confirmed web check-in will be allowed to enter an airport terminal, the Civil Aviation Ministry said, and added that there will be no physical check-in at counters.The Aviation Ministry’s SOP added that only one check-in bag will be allowed and airlines will not provide any meal services in flights.Similar to the guidelines by the airport Authority of india (AAI), the government said passengers will have to report at least two hours before scheduled time for flight's departure.The boarding for flight will commence 60 minutes before departure and boarding gate will be closed 20 minutes before departure.

 

"There will be a lower and upper limit of fares prescribed by the governemnt during coronavirus pandemic period,” the Aviation Ministry stated in the SOP.All scheduled commercial passenger flight operations have been suspended since march 25, when the modi government announced the nationwide lockdown to combat the coronavirus pandemic. Earlier on thursday, the AAI released SOP for airports. In the guidelines, AAI said the Aarogya Setu App will not be mandatory for children below 14 years of age and it will be compulsory for passengers to walk through the thermal screening zones before entering the airport terminal building.
