Reportedly maharashtra government on tuesday allowed home delivery of liquor in the state. As per the order, licensed shops will be allowed to deliver Indian-made foreign liquor, mild liquor, beer and wine. However, there are certain restrictions. Delivery of alcohol by a shop can only be made within its area of license. The person deployed for the delivery must wear a mask and use hand sanitiser at frequent intervals.

Furthermore the order was in this regard was issued by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner praveen Pardeshi and applies to all standalone shops in the city. In his order, the municipal commissioner cited multiple reports of large crowds queuing outside liquor stores in the city as the reason for stricter enforcement of the lockdown. BMC Commissioner praveen Pardeshi said, "I am convinced that the relaxation notification (by the state government) is going to deteriorate the conditions in mumbai city and hence, relaxations will have to be withdrawn for the mumbai City."

With this order, the BMC has now directed assistant commissioners of wards not to issue permissions for the opening of five shops in a lane selling non-essential commodities. Anyone found in violation of the municipal commissioner's order will be penalized under Section 188 of the indian Penal Code (IPC). maharashtra government had on sunday allowed standalone shops of non-essential commodities, including liquor vendors, to open in red zones such as mumbai, pune, Pimpri Chinchwad and Malegaon. The state government's order allowed five standalone shops in a single lane and selling non-essential goods to reopen.
