Chief of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and former Union minister Ajit Singh, 82, passed away due to Coronavirus. He took his last breath on thursday in a Gurugram hospital. Early on thursday his son Jayant Chaudhary confirmed the death of his father.

Ajit Singh is the son of former prime minister Chaudhary Charan Singh. He became rajya sabha member in 1986 after his father fell ill and won from the Baghpat seat from 1989 to 2009. After his father’s death, he took over as the head of Lok Dal and the Janata Party.

He worked as a minister for Agriculture in the Vajpayee government between 2001-2003, and minister for Civil Aviation in the second term of the United Progressive Alliance government. For his tremendous work as a minister of Agriculture, he was showered with praises by all the biggies of politics. prime minister narendra modi also said that he was “devoted to the interests of farmers all his life”.

As soon as the news broke out that he is no more, all the political party chiefs and many other prominent figures from the political front are sending condolence messages to his family through social media.
