According to the State Department, Vice President kamala harris will deliver a message of solidarity to the people of india on friday, as the US works with india to save lives and hasten the end of the coronavirus pandemic. The State Department has scheduled harris to speak at the beginning of an online event called "Bolstering US CovidRelief Efforts in India: Perspectives from the Diaspora."


Ervin Massinga, senior advisor in the State Department's south and Central Asia Bureau, will host the event on friday at noon local time. Panelists will discuss commercial and civil society-led efforts to resolve the current emergency, what assistance will be required to reopen india after the second wave, and how they should coordinate efforts to get the two countries closer together going forward. Massinga will include an outline of the US government's recovery efforts, and panellists will discuss commercial and civil society-led efforts to address the current emergency.

Following Harris' remarks, a panel discussion with diaspora leaders will take place, featuring virginia State senator Ghazala Hashmi, Lata Krishnan of the American indian Foundation, Indiaspora president M R Rangaswami, and Gunisha Kaur, Assistant professor at Weill Cornell Medicine and Medical director of the Weill Cornell Center for Human Rights.
