Karnataka suspended vaccination for people aged between 18 and 44 years amid a massive short supply of doses across the country. The state of karnataka has also joined with several states in temporarily suspending the vaccination.

The karnataka health Department said in a series of tweets that the vaccine procured directly by the state government for vaccination of adults aged 18 to 44 years would also be used to inoculate beneficiaries who are due for their second doses.

In a tweet, the karnataka health department said. “Therefore, all vaccines available with the state government i.e. supplied by the union government and procured directly by the state will be utilized for vaccination of beneficiaries due for the second dose.”

Vaccinations for those who have already scheduled appointments for the 18-44 age group will be temporarily suspended from May 14 until further orders are issued, according to the state health department of Karnataka.

The karnataka government agreed on May 7 to use the entire stockpile of vaccines issued by the Centre for the vaccination of people over 45 years to vaccinate beneficiaries who were eligible for their second dose, according to the state health department.
