The congress party will not announce its cm candidate for the 2023 karnataka assembly elections, said DK Shivakumar president of karnataka congress Unit. He dismissed several media reports about differences within the karnataka Unit of party.

Speaking to news reporters, Shivakumar said, "There are no differences within karnataka(Congress) Unit and there will be only collective leadership. I don't have any rift with anyone. No cm face will be announced from congress side."

The development came after the former karnataka cm Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar met rahul gandhi in delhi amid reports of clashes between the two. Reportedly, Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar are at loggerheads on issues like who will be the party’s face for 2023 assembly elections. Supporters of Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar have also locked horns on the matter.

The congress high command had thus summoned both of them to defuse the growing differences. Apart from the two, a third group is supporting mallikarjun Kharge and G Parameswara demanding for dalit CM. Meanwhile, congress former leader rahul gandhi intervened in the matter and has asked them to fight the assembly elections under collective leadership.

After meeting rahul gandhi, former cm Siddaramaiah said "We will follow rahul Gandhi's advice sicerely and our party has strong internal democracy and so we will remain united despite having difference of opinion".
