According to a official report released by the maharashtra government on the status of floods in the State which occured due to the heavy rains, around 90,000 people have been evacuated from the flood hit areas. Nearly 76 people and many animals have lost their lives, around 30 people are missing and 38 are injured.

The report was compiled by the disaster management and relief department, which deployed teams of State Disaster Response Force and National disaster response force across the affected districts. The teams are also jointly working with navy, army, coast guard and air Force .

According to media reports,  around 44 bodies have been recovered in Raigad distrcit from the debris in two different locations due to landslide.

The disaster management department said the heavy floods resulted due to the torrential Rainfall in parts of the State which coincided with high tides discharged from river and dams. Heavy rainfall led the savitri river to burst the banks and flooded the Poladpur and Mahad regions. The whole town of Mahad was entirely cut off due to the destruction of road connectivity.

Maharashtra chief minister uddhav thackeray is making his visit the affected areas later on Saturday. In his visit, the cm will be seeing more than 49 have died in landslides.
