A section of Left Front leaders and a DMK mp participated in a grand event marking the 100th anniversary(Centenary) of the Chinese Communist party (CCP). On Thursday, cpi President D Raja, CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury and lok sabha mp S senthilkumar of DMK and G Devarajan attended the virtual event at the Chinese embassy in New Delhi. The event was hosted by the Chinese ambassador sun Weidong along with CPC's international department counsellor Du Xiaolin.

The Communist leaders' participation comes at a time when china and india are monitoring each other's movements over the Line of Actual Control (LAC) situation in the Indo-Pacific region. The Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) has severely criticised the prominent Left leaders for attending the event and questioned their loyalty towards the nation.

BJP mp Anil Jain called it as unfortunate that the prominent Left parties' leaders are attending CCP's centenary anniversary event and said they should be exposed, because it is a betrayal to the country..BJP leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi termed it as a matter of 'shame'. "The situation is still tense at the border. They shouldn't forget what Chinese military did at the border. This is shameful... . china helps pakistan and issues threats. Their participation is not in the national interest and being indians they should stay away from china," Bahuguna Joshi said.
