Grounded Anil Deshmukh wanted Rs 2 crore from mumbai police sergeant Sachin Vaze, according to the Directorate, to persuade ncp head Sharad Pawar, who is regarded the most powerful figure in Maharashtra's governing maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) party. Sachin Vaze, a two-time expelled mumbai Policeman, accused erstwhile maharashtra Home minister Anil Deshmukh of fraud and blackmail in his testimony to the Crime Branch (ED).

In July 2020, then-Commissioner of police Param Bir Singh signed an order for the resignation and appointment of roughly ten deputy chiefs of policemen, according to Sachin Vaze (DCPs). Directors Anil Deshmukh and Anil Parab, he alleged, were unhappy with the order and had it reversed. Anil Deshmukh used to call Sachin Vaze at his workplace, residence, and official guest room and offer him direct commands or instructions in relation to different instances, according to Sachin Vaze.

In his testimony, Sachin Vaze focused on the subject of money being collected from several pubs around Mumbai. Sachin Vaze informed the ED that he was handed a list of 1,750 bars and eateries, along with instructions to collect Rs 3 lakhs for each of them. According to Sachin Vaze's declaration, he got Rs 4.7 crore between december 2020 and february 2021.
