For the past twelve years, a man claims to have slept for only 30 minutes per day in order to stay healthy. Daisuke Hori, 36, from Japan, claims that after reducing his regular sleep routine, he hasn't felt weary. Hori is the founder and president of the "Japan Short-sleeper Association." Thousands of individuals are taught his approach of reducing sleep hours in the hopes that they will imitate his "creative" lifestyle. Hori stated that 16 hours were insufficient to accomplish everything he desired in a day. As a result, he gradually began to test strategies for reducing his sleep pattern from 8 hours to half an hour.

He even had the team of a famous Japanese tv show accompany him around for 3 weeks to ensure how he survives with only half an hour of sleep every day, and even sometimes fewer. Hori got up at 8 a.m. the first day and went to the gymnasium, read, wrote, and interacted. He went to bed about 2 a.m. and didn't wake up for another 26 minutes. He suited up and went surfing with some mates after waking up before returning to the gym.

He used his nights playing computer games, browsing and socializing with his other short-sleeper pals. They all worked together to cut down on their sleep schedules so they could spend more time together. Hori's ability to combat lethargy caused by insulin increases after eating piqued people's interest. He admitted that he was sleepy, but that he avoided falling asleep by drinking coffee.
