According to reports, the congress has offered the choice of Punjab's cabinet Minister Sukhjinder Randhawa as the upcoming CM.  Meanwhile, no decision has been made since a conversation is taking place at rahul Gandhi's residence in New Delhi, including ambika Soni attending, according to the source. This comes after a session of punjab MLAs off sunday, a day before amarinder singh quit from the state party division amid months of upheaval.


Congress mla Pritam Kotbhai informed ANI that all MLAs had put Sukhjinder Randhawa's name forward for cm to the congress high command, adding he would be appointed. Sukhjinder Randhawa is a Punjab's cabinet minister responsible for prisons as well as cooperatives. Sukhjinder Randhawa told reporters in between talks on sunday that he had no desire for any position. Sukhjinder remarked of previous cm amarinder singh, "A cm continues (in his office) only till the party, the citizens of the state, stick behind him."

Punjab congress MLAs have approved sonia gandhi, the party's leader, to appoint a new parliamentary party leader to replace amarinder singh as that of the state's CM. This occurred after punjab cm amarinder singh quit, claiming he was "humiliated" by the way the party managed the bickering in the punjab unit. According to party insiders, the new leader's name will most likely be unveiled during an 11 a.m. CLP meeting today.
