The Delhi-Saharanpur project is expected to begin near Delhi's Akshardham temple and ends close to the Delhi-UP boundary, while Phase 2 will be focussed near Khekra village. According to the project note, the route of this project will be 32.2 kilometres long in total. As a part of this, over 5000 trees in the capital city New delhi will be slashed down for the Delhi-Saharanpur highway project.


The green canopy of delhi may have to be slashed again very soon, but this time to create room for a motorway scheme. The National Highways Authority of india (NHAI) has proposed clearing 14.08 hectares of trees to make leeway for a six-lane motorway in east and Northeast Delhi. From the Akshardham junction to the Delhi-UP border, is the route for the Delhi-Saharanpur route and the Union government's Bharatmala Pariyojana road-building plan repositories the 14.75-kilometre scheme.


Aditya Madanpotra, Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) reported that the scheme may mandatorily necessitate the slashing down of 5,104 trees. The road has 2038 trees on the left, and 2436 trees on the right, and the middle lane has 630 trees. The first proposal of cutting down trees for the Highway project was presented in May this year and the whole proposal was received in August.
