Heavy rains are expected in the Nilgiris today, according to the chennai Meteorological Department. In this regard, Dr. Na. Puviarasan, director of the chennai Meteorological Center, issued a press release today that states, Heavy rains are forecast in tamil Nadu as a result of atmospheric mantle rotation and 'heat transfer.' Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul, Kanyakumari, Salem, Erode, Kallakurichi, Villupuram, and Cuddalore districts have had heavy rain with thundershowers in one or two locations. In one or two regions, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected.

Heavy rains with thundershowers are expected in Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Pudukottai, Nilgiris, Kallakurichi, Salem, and Delta districts, while other districts include Puduvai and Karaikal will get moderate showers in a few locations. Puthuvai and Karaikal, both in tamil Nadu, are expected to receive light to moderate rain.

For the next 48 hours, the sky will be partly cloudy in Chennai. In several parts of the city, light to moderate rain is expected. The maximum temperature is 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is 26 degrees Celsius. At Kumarikadal, the gulf of Mannar, and the southwestern Bay of Bengal, strong winds of 40 to 50 kmph are forecast. It is not recommended that fishermen visit these places.
