Farmers from different states have been sitting on the border of delhi for months protesting against the federal government's three agricultural laws. The Uttar Pradesh-Delhi border has also been affected. These farmers are mostly sugarcane growers from western Uttar Pradesh.

Many bjp leaders believe that the farmers' grievances may affect the party in this election. Recently, the central government has taken a number of steps to alleviate the grievances of farmers. The central government has increased the subsidy for di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizers. The minimum support price for Kharif crops has also been raised. At the same time, the state government raised the price of sugarcane by Rs 25 per quintal.

The bjp hopes that through these measures, the hatred against farmers will be reduced to some extent. But an mp from the same party said the price hike was not satisfactory to sugarcane farmers.

The prime minister also spoke to the farmers through video conferencing to remove the confusion in the minds of the farmers about the new agricultural laws. Efforts were made to attract farmers with Kisan Samman funds. But the anger of the peasants has not yet abated.

The impact of their anger was also felt in the Uttar Pradesh panchayat elections. In September, the entire blockade, called by farmers, had a positive impact on northern India, especially in western Uttar Pradesh.

It remains to be seen whether the bjp will be able to win over its peasants in the run-up to the elections. The farmers' struggle has the support of the state opposition. But it remains to be seen whether other political parties can turn the issue into an 'opportunity for themselves.

There are 44 assembly constituencies in western Uttar Pradesh, according to data from the Center for the Study of Developing Communities (CSDS). In the 2017 assembly elections, the bjp won 41 per cent of the vote in Uttar Pradesh. In the 2019 lok sabha elections, the bjp won more than 50% of the vote in Uttar Pradesh. In western Uttar Pradesh, the bjp got 52 per cent of the vote.

The situation was similar in the 2014 lok sabha elections. Across the state, the bjp got 42 per cent of the vote, while in western Uttar Pradesh it was 50 per cent.

It is clear that the bjp is getting more votes in western Uttar Pradesh than in other parts of the state. Because of this, the Opposition will definitely try to exploit the problem of the farmers to their advantage.
