The practise of imprisoning drunkards in iron cages has been adopted to Motipura village in Gujarat. If they want to get out of jail, they'll have to pay a fee of Rs 2,500. As a result, the village's alcoholic population has decreased considerably. Men are considered to be more addicted to alcohol in most Gujarati communities. Every hamlet, on average, has a considerable number of women whose husbands have died of drinking. The government is taking numerous initiatives to combat alcoholism in this situation.

In light of this, the village of Motipura has recently been subjected to harsh prohibitions prohibiting the consumption of alcoholic beverages. If they came into town after consuming alcohol, the village panchayat head Babunayak revealed a fresh plan to lock them up in iron cages. The adolescents who had entered the village after drinking alcohol were then imprisoned in iron cages. After paying a fine of Rs 1,200, they were released the next morning. The fee will also be utilised for the village's economic development efforts, according to the announcement. Villagers in the surrounding area have praised the project, which has been implemented in Motipura village.

Following this, a project to imprison wine enthusiasts has been initiated in 24 villages throughout the Ahmedabad, Surendranagar, Amreli, and kutch districts. According to Motipura panchayat chief Babu Naik, the fine has been doubled to Rs 2,500. In 2017, we began work on this project. Following that, a fine of Rs 1,200 was imposed. Later, the people suggested that the sum be increased.
