The central government on tuesday approached farmers' associations for the first time after repealing controversial agriculture laws.

New Delhi: After the repeal of the Agriculture Act, the Center has taken a positive stance on other demands of the agitating farmers.

Therefore, there are signs of reconciliation between the farmers 'organizations and the Center. The farmers' organizations have shown readiness to withdraw their agitation if the Center withdraws the offences against the farmers and gives a firm assurance to compensate the families of the deceased farmers.

A final decision in this regard will be taken in the meeting of Samyukta Kisan Morcha today, Wednesday.

The central government on tuesday approached farmers' associations for the first time after repealing controversial agriculture laws. The Center sent a five-point proposal to the Samyukta Kisan Morcha.

It promises that the crimes against farmers will be stopped after the agitation is called off. The central government has also agreed in principle to compensate the families of the deceased farmers.

The central government has decided to set up a committee on minimum basic prices, which will include representatives of other farmers' organizations as well as representatives of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha.

The proposal sent to the Samyukta Kisan Morcha also states that discussions will be held with the farmers' unions before the electricity bill is tabled in Parliament. The Center has also made it clear that no criminal charges will be filed against farmers in cases of arson.

Farmers' unions have objected to some of the issues, saying the proposal was dubious. Crimes against farmers should be stopped before the agitation is called off.

If the Center adopts the punjab government's model of compensation, then a certain amount will be given to the farming families. The punjab government has paid Rs 5 lakh each and has also given jobs to some family members.

The Center had said that the electricity bill would not be tabled in Parliament. But now the Center is thinking of proposing a bill through discussion.

Samyukta Kisan Morcha has opposed the inclusion of other farmers' organizations on the issue of guarantee. The agitating farmers' organizations have said that those who did not take part in the agitation, those who took a stand against the guarantee should not be given a place in the committee.

These are major objections to the Centre's proposals and the central government needs to address these objections. This opinion was expressed by the National President of akhil Bharatiya Kisan Sabha and a member of the steering committee of Samyukta Kisan Morcha, Dr ashok Dhawale said.

Preparing for a compromise

For the first time since January, the central government has made a proposal regarding the farmers' agitation and has shown readiness to compromise on other demands as well.

Therefore, if some concrete assurances are received from the Center, then seriously withdraw the agitation.

It is understood that such a discussion took place at a meeting of the United Kisan Morcha on the Singhu border on Tuesday.

The farmers' unions have lodged objections to the Centre's proposal and the morcha will meet again at 2 pm on Wednesday. Until then, a concrete proposal is expected from the Center, say farmers' union leaders.

Demands of farmers

Promising to accept, the central government has sent a proposal to withdraw the agitation. The proposal is dubious, and we have objected to some of it. A decision in this regard will be taken in the meeting of Samyukta Kisan Morcha on Wednesday. -
