Tamil Nadu, Perambalur constituency mp D.R. Parivendar has questioned the declaration of tamil as the official language.

At the recent Southern Regional Council held in Tirupati, it was demanded that tamil be declared the official language of india and that Tirukural be declared the national Book of India.

Member of parliament for Perambalur constituency asked whether any decision has been reached in this regard.

In a written reply, indian Home minister Nithyanand Roy requested the government of tamil Nadu to declare tamil as one of the official languages of india at the 29th Southern Regional Council held on november 14 this year.
But he said in a written reply that no discussions had taken place in this regard. The winter session, which began on november 29, will continue until december 23.
English is also used as the language of communication between the Central and State Governments (non-Hindi speaking). Judgments and orders are issued in English, the official language of the supreme court and the High Court.

It is to be noted that as well as bills tabled in parliament, bills passed, changes and emergency laws are all published in English.
