Six districts were named after some dignitaries during the reorganization of andhra pradesh districts. Although there is some dissatisfaction with this, there are no publicly presented records. Many were happy to name the districts after YSSR, NTR, Alluri, Annamayya, Potti Sriramulu and Satyasai.

The existing Prakasam, Potti Sriramulu and Vyssar districts continue under the same names. Along with them came the demand to name the Konaseema district after Dr. BR Ambedkar. Almost all the major parties supported the proposal. The government, however, did not name Ambedkar during the formation of the new districts.

However, as the month wore on, a preliminary notification of a change of name arrived. The same became a major controversy. Simultaneously the attack on the district SP went on till the houses of the minister and mla were set on fire.

Is it because of the shape of the border

At the bottom of the Dhawaleswaram Barrage, the akhanda Godavari River turns into streams. The region between the Gautami, Vainatheya and Vashishta rivers is known as Konaseema. The Godavari flows on three sides and Konaseema looks like an island due to the Bay of bengal on the other.

However, the Amalapuram Parliamentary seat formed in 2009 was formed as a new district on the basis of parliamentary constituencies. The name Konaseema was decided for it.

Formed as the center of Amalapuram, the district has Amalapuram, Mummidivaram, Ramachandrapuram, Mandapeta, Kottapeta, P gannavaram and rajolu assembly constituencies. Three of the seven assembly constituencies are sc reserved seats. The Parliamentary seat has also been sc reserved from the outset.

The district has a population of 18 lakhs as per 2011 census and has a population of about 5 lakhs SCs. Approximately the same number of farmers, followed by Shettybalija as well as BCs belonging to the fishing castes.

Caste-wise, the people of the three and four castes are almost equal in number, and the competition between the respective castes for economic and political clout seems to have been for a long time. Many say that this social and economic nature is the main reason for the frequent conflicts in Konaseema.

Center for caste clashes ...

The area now known as Konaseema district has a history of many caste clashes in the past. Even small disputes between students at the school and college level have a background that has turned into a whirlwind of chinks.

There was a great commotion in Konaseema 8 years ago when their idols like Dr. BR Ambedkar were destroyed. Incidents of destroying several idols in a row sparked outrage at the time. At present there are three sc Mala, one Fisherman, one Shettibalija, one kamma and one reddy mla in the district. Among them are Pinipey Vishwaroop (SC) and the valid Venugopalakrishna (Shettybalija) ministers. But, politically the peasantry is in the air in all constituencies. There have been many instances of caste clashes due to these political contradictions.

Recently, the Shettybalija clan raised concerns over the behavior of minister Venugopalakrishna. There are records of another minister, Vishwaroop, being dissatisfied with his own caste. Journalist Pitala Rajasekhar said the impact of these political differences behind the current concerns could not be ruled out.

The region is at the forefront of the agricultural sector. However, Konaseema appears to be a sensitive area as caste differences have repeatedly crossed borders. police records say that wherever a minor dispute erupts, it expands rapidly.
