The Y S jagan Mohan reddy administration has come under fire from the opposition telugu desam party in andhra pradesh for allegedly mismanaging the state's finances, yet the state has made significant strides in raising revenue this fiscal year. Officials informed the chief minister at a review meeting on thursday that the state's goods and services tax (GST) collections in the first half of the fiscal year ending september 30 were higher than the national average, signalling the return of the state's financial position to normal in the post-Covid situation. The average GST collection rate across the nation, according to the government, was 27.8%, whereas it was 28.79% in Andhra Pradesh.

According to a statement made by the Chief Minister's office (CMO), jagan has ordered the staff to stop the leaks in tax collection and make it easy for taxpayers to use transparent channels. Although the state has only received Rs 25,928 crore as of september 2022, the objective had been Rs 27,445 crore, or 94.47% of that amount. The chief minister instructed the officials after reviewing the excise department that Mahila police should send a daily report regarding the illegal alcohol activity in the village and that a system should be in place to automatically trigger it so that the officials can conduct raids as soon as possible.

Jagan instructed the officials to substantially reduce the number of villages vulnerable to ID operations before the next review meeting, in addition to taking extraordinary measures to transform the livelihood of villagers whose living depends on illegal alcohol activity. He also urged them to devise strong steps to stop the production of illicit alcohol. The chief minister has mandated the formation of a high-level committee to increase revenue as part of the evaluation of the registration department. According to the chief minister, this committee should be composed of IAS officials krishna Babu, Rajat Bhargava, Neerabh Kumar Prasad, and Gulzar, and it should deliver its report and action plan within two weeks.
