There has been a problem regarding seat distribution in the indian alliance since the beginning. All the
parties have been giving their own formula to claim maximum seats. So far, two basic formulas have
emerged regarding seat sharing.
1. The first formula is – the result of the last 2 lok sabha elections. In the last two elections, if any party of
india Alliance has stood first or second in a direct fight with bjp, then its claim will be considered the
strongest there.
2. This formula has been suggested by RJD. The party is demanding distribution of lok sabha seats on the
basis of MLAs. In 2019, nda had distributed seats in bihar on this basis. bjp had given 17 seats to JDU
which had 2 seats.
However, the equation of many states is not fitting in both the formulas. In the mumbai meeting, AAP
convenor arvind kejriwal had talked about making a new mechanism for seat sharing. Along with delhi and
Punjab, AAP is also demanding some seats from congress in Gujarat.
Along with kejriwal, trinamool congress also does not agree with these two seat sharing formulas.
Trinamool does not want to give even a single seat to CPM in Bengal. news agency quoted sources as
saying that the india Alliance is working on a new formula to resolve the seat dispute. According to this, the
responsibility of resolving disputes will be given to those leaders of the alliance who do not have any
support base in the respective states. In states like Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, bihar and tamil Nadu,
the issue of seat sharing is said to be finalized first.
