Now students will be able to take admission in the university twice a year, UGC has given permission

University Grants Commission

Now students will be able to take admission in the university twice a year. UGC has given permission to higher education institutions for this. Earlier, students were given admission only during July-August. With this decision of UGC, now students will be able to get admission twice in January/February and July/August from the upcoming session.

University will decide 2-time admission

However, UGC has given the right to the institutions to decide whether they want to give admission to the students in two cycles or only once. This will depend on the infrastructure and faculty of the institutes.

According to UGC, admission twice a year is not mandatory, but it gives flexibility to those institutes that want to increase the number of their students or want to offer new courses to the students. UGC Chairman M Jagdish Kumar said that the admission process starts in every university in the month of July/August, but if any institute wants to start a new course in january, then it is welcome.

Trial in ODL and online mode

UGC has first given the opportunity to students to get admission twice a year with Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and online mode programs. On taking this step, the UGC Chairman said that this was done because during its trial in ODL and online, UGC found that about 5 lakh students would have waited for a year to join the course, they got admission in january itself and this saved them a whole year.
