The picture of Gurugram city railway station will change with Rs 295 crore. There will be an eight-storey railway station building, in which other facilities including station offices will be available at a high level. Like other stations in the country, Gurugram railway station is also being transformed under the Amrit Bharat Station Yojana. Under the Amrit Bharat Station Yojana, the railway stations of the country are being given a modern touch by doing a comprehensive rejuvenation. Gurugram railway station is also included in this development journey of Amrit Kaal.

Work is being done under Amrit Bharat Station Yojana

Under the scheme, Gurugram railway station is going to be rejuvenated at a cost of about 295 crores. The design of the station building will reflect the local culture, heritage and architecture and modern facilities will be provided to the passengers by ensuring universal access to the railway station.

On 26 February, prime minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 554 railway stations in the country and 1500 road overbridges and underpasses including Gurugram railway station through video conferencing. Gurugram railway station, which comes under the jurisdiction of the Railways, has been selected for major upgrades with ease of movement for vehicles and passengers, new architecture, state-of-the-art facilities providing a world-class experience.

The new building of the railway station will be 8 storeys

The redevelopment project of Gurugram railway station will involve the construction of a new main station building (ground plus eight storeys) and a roof plaza/air concourse with a roof. The roof plaza will connect both sides of the track and thus provide entry from the primary as well as secondary side. The project will also include external development of the station including smooth movement and departure on the road, pick and drop point, canopy, green space.
