In what can be termed as a significant political move, YS jagan Mohan Reddy government has reserved 50 percent of nominated posts in all temples and endowment bodies for backward classes, scheduled castes, and scheduled tribes. The government also made it mandatory that 50 percent of all posts, including general and reserved categories, to be reserved for women.

The government is likely to announce the 25-member TTD Board any time. This rule means the trust board will have close to 13 women, including those from the forward castes, BC and SC categories. Out of the 25 members, 13 would be from BC and SC communities. The Government has given a G.O regarding the same.

Community-based and gender-based reservations have been introduced for the first time in the state in the Temple Committees. There are mixed opinions about this move but the Government says it has brought in the reservations to bring social and gender equality. But then, it will be true only if Temple Committees are not made Political Rehabilitation Centers. We will get an idea about that very soon.
