Tirupathi Brahmostavam is an integral part of Purattasi, happening in Tirupathi temple which can be viewed through TV and TTD and other TV channels are telecasting the Brahmotsavam sitting at home on all days of the festival.
Purattasi Pournami (Full moon day): Pournami of every month is considered auspicious for Ambal (goddess called in Tamil) Purattasi pournami is special in another way. Temples are adorned with all sorts of raw vegetables and fruits to worship the Goddess in the form of Shaakambari or the Annihilator of hunger and Durbhiksham and bring about subhiksham.
When the rains failed in King Harischandra’s kingdom (due to Lord Varauna’s curse) he upon receiving instructions from his preceptor Vasishta worshipped Ambal in the form of Shaakambari or Annapoorani. Rains poured and Subhiksham prevailed in Ayodhya.
