While travelling in a self-driving tesla is an unforgettable experience, jordan Nelson was taken aback when his car kept abruptly slowing down. Nelson later claimed that the vehicle had mistaken the moon for a yellow traffic signal. Nelson took to twitter to share a video of the malfunction, tagging Elon Musk, the company's CEO.



The video combines the view from the car's tablet screen and the view from the windscreen. The moon, which seems to be yellow in the video, is far away and high in the sky. The user's selected path is displayed inside two parallel blue lines on the car's interface screen, and another automobile travelling ahead of the user's car is also visible on the screen. A yellow traffic light pops out of nowhere on the screen. As the traffic light looks to approach and pass, another yellow traffic light shows on the screen, followed by another. Thirteen yellow traffic lights come on the screen and pass during the 23-second video. However, there is no such thing as a yellow traffic light in reality. A golden moon may be seen far and high in the sky. The moon appears to be misinterpreted by the car's perception system as a traffic signal. Nelson noted in the caption that the vehicle kept wanting to slow down.
