Shaakuntalam, starring leading lady samantha Ruth Prabhu, has been delayed, according to a Thursday, september 29 announcement from production company Gunaa Teamworks. In a joint statement, the production team and producer Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations said they would be releasing the epic mythical romance drama movie in 3D theatres and that a new release date will be forthcoming.

We would need some time to put this together, therefore we would be unable to achieve the earlier stated release date. We appreciate the love and support people have shown us from all over the world, and we hope you will do the same. The revised release date will be disclosed soon."

The epic sanskrit play Abhijnanasakuntalam by Kalidasa, Shaakuntalam, directed by Gunasekhar, was set to hit theatres on november 4, 2022, according to a previous statement.
