On behalf of the Central Government, National Milk Day was observed today to commemorate the centennial of Dr. Verghese Kurien, dubbed "India's Milkman." There was a significant shortage of milk in india till 1970. Given as part of a milk ration. Mothers came over youngsters to feed their children. Milk, yogurt, butter, cheese, and infant meals are all readily available nowadays. The White Revolution in india was started by Verghese Kurien.

In honour of his birthday, november 26 is designated as National Milk Day. Since this year is Kurien's centennial, the National Dairy Board, which is part of the federal government, is hosting a number of events in his honour. On behalf of the Central Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairy, the ceremony was organised today at the National Dairy Development Board in Anand, Gujarat. Participants included Union minister Parshotham Rupala, Associate Ministers L. Murugan and sanjeev kumar Balyan, and others.

Minister Parshotham Rupala presented the National Gopal Ratna awards to the winners, which included Best Dairy Farmer, Buffalo Breeder, Best Artificial Fertilization Technician, and Best Dairy Co-operative Society, Milk Producer. The event was co-hosted by the National Dairy Development Board and other organisations founded by Dr. Kurien. He also created the Start-up Grand Challenge 2.0 and opened IVF laboratories in Tamrod, Gujarat, and Hesarkatta, Karnataka.
