Men could be described as more emotional than women, too. It depends on the type of emotion, how it is measured, where it is expressed, and lots of other factors. It is also important to answer the question of whether or not sex differences are as "overwhelmingly absent" (ie, gender blank slate-ism) or so large that men and women cannot "relate to one another".

Perhaps still a particular scientific claim about men and women being emotionally different needs to be evaluated empirically. And even if sex differences in neuropsychological substrates (gender role socialization may change, boys and girls) may be different.

Women may be more sensitive to negative emotions than those who are more sensitive to their needs (more than men). Hampson and her colleagues (2006) found more support for the former hypothesis.
