The much publicized champion of Telangana cause, the Telangana Raashtra Samithi has surprisingly come out with non-serious statements over Supreme Court’s verdict on Babli project over Godavari river. This has drawn some negative reactions on the party and its stand.
With Babli being one such unique project which can draw water backwards from the backwaters of Sriram Sagar Dam, apprehensions are being raised over the drastic impact the project might cause for the ayacut in North Telangana districts. But after the SC verdict favoring Maharashtra, TRS has issued statements just for the sake of formality and without any seriousness towards the issue.
Analysts are wondering if this is the response by a party that is supposed to represent the interests of Telangana, one can only wonder what is in store for the region in case the separate state becomes a reality with TRS as the major political force. The detractors of TRS aver that this is an indication of the credibility of this party.
