At the same time, it is being called a raid by the Income Tax Department on social media. For the last three days, the Income Tax Department teams are continuously investigating. BBC employees have been asked to work from home until further notice. According to sources, this survey is being done in the matter of allegations of transfer pricing and irregularities in international tax.

The opposition has also created a ruckus on this matter. The congress says that first the Modi government banned the BBC documentary and now this action is being taken to avenge the same. According to sources, the Income Tax Department has shown a letter to the BBC, according to which it has been allowed to conduct the survey for three days. Let us understand what is the difference between survey and raid by the Income Tax Department?

What is the survey of IT department?

When the Income Tax Department team visits a house, office or other place to find out someone's undeclared income, property or intentionally hiding property there, it is called a survey. Its main purpose is to gather information. The Income Tax Department has been empowered to conduct surveys under Section 133A of the IT Act. Along with this, the Income Tax Department also checks whether any person or company is maintaining its balance sheet properly or not.

What is the difference between raid and survey?

According to the rules, Income Tax raid and survey are completely different. While the purpose of the survey is only to gather information, during raids, along with gathering information about undisclosed property, evidence related to its transactions and that undisclosed property is also found. There is also a difference that if the Income Tax Department conducts the survey, it will be done only between working hours i.e. 9 to 6 or 10 to 7. At the same time, the raid can be done at any time under any condition.
