N Chandrababu Naidu, the president of the telugu desam party and a former chief minister, employed a cunning plan to prevent a unanimous vote in the MLC elections for the Kadapa-Ananatapur-Kurnool local bodies, but it has backfired. Naidu made the choice to back Ramanaiah Yadav, an independent candidate, even though he was aware that the tdp had little chance of winning the seat.

The YSRC and the tdp account for about 98 percent of the voters in Kadapa's local bodies, while independents have just 60 votes—barely enough to consider running in the MLC elections. But, Naidu made the evil decision to back the independent Ramanaia Yadav in order to ensure that the YSRC candidate would not be elected without opposition. Consequently, he requested that Ramanaiah Yadav's nomination papers be signed by the council members of his party.

But, things started to go against Naidu on wednesday while the nomination documents were being examined. Three tdp council members in Kadapa, who are alleged to have put their signatures on Yadav's papers, rebelled against the organisation. The three council members—Shiva Jyothy, the sole tdp representative in the Proddutur municipality, and Venkata Subba Redy and Khader Basha, two other tdp representatives from the Mydukuru municipality—filed a written complaint with the returning officer alleging they had not signed Ramaiaha Yadav's nomination papers.

The tdp in the district was astonished by their complaint, as well as Ramanaiah Yadav, whose nomination was immediately denied since he had provided fraudulent signatures.
