The overall number of motor vehicles in telangana has increased dramatically over the past 10 years, rising from 70.73 lakh in 2014 to 1.54 crore in 2023, an average growth rate of 9% per year. Approximately 10 lakh new automobiles were added to the State in the 2022–2023 fiscal year alone.
Two-wheelers made up 1.13 crore of the 1.54 crore vehicles, followed by motorcars (20 lakh), auto-rickshaws (4.5 lakh), school buses (28,962), goods rickshaws (6.0 lakh), e-carts (235), motor cabs (20,337), maxima cabs (31,060), contract carriage (9.244), and 7 lakh tractors and trailers, according to officials with the transport department. There are over 70 lakh personal cars in hyderabad, of which over 50 lakh are two-wheelers and roughly 13 lakh are four-wheelers.

In the State a decade ago, there were around 70.73 lakh registered cars, of which 8.22 lakh were used for transportation and 63.68 lakh were not. More than 52.84 lakh two-wheelers, 7,96,232 automobiles, 14,989 Jeeps, 74,097 taxis, 40,807 buses, 1,85,688 light vehicles (goods), and 1,25,240 trucks were registered in the state during 2013–2014. hyderabad had just 25 lakh automobiles at the time telangana was formed, but over the past 10 years, this number has steadily climbed every year.
