Just a day after pulling plug from UPA government, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam [DMK] party tasting the CBI raids.DMK had withdrawn from the UPA on Tuesday demanding the government should get a resolution passed by Parliament against Sri Lanka. Following the support withdrawal, five union ministers of DMK submitted their resignations to Prime Minister yesterday, which were accepted and later sent to President Pranab Mukherjee.
The Central Bureau of Investigation [CBI] raided DMK leader M.K. Stalin's residence in Chennai early on today morning. As per reports, CBI claims these raids in connection with Stalin's son illegally importing car.
DMK leaders condemning these raids very strongly, DMKMP TR Baalu said, "It is simply a political move.". The timing of the raids, which effectively seems like a thinly veiled threat, appears to point to the usual Congress stratagem of turning the screws on regional leaders in order to secure political support for its survival at the center. It's been common to legal agency declare raids on people / parties those who are contradicting Congress party.
YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is in jail from close to an year, for the reason being his father was former chief minister and he had left congress to float his own party. YSRCP in and out claims the whole episode as revenge and political vendetta of Congress party. Analysts also express their surprise about timing of the raids on DMK and claiming these kind of acts of Congress led UPA government would only deprive the spirit of democracy further.
