Anurag Kashyap opened up about his daughter alia Kashyap's engagement. The filmmaker joked that he was glad he was invited to the engagement, as he had no idea about his proposal. Anurag also told that he came to know about Shane's proposal through social media. Furthermore, he said that his daughter is a lot like him and his ex-wife Aarti Bajaj.

In the same interview, Anurag revealed that Alia's engagement was not a surprise as she does what she wants. The filmmaker said that he likes Alia's fiance Shane and said that he is more mature than her. Elaborating further, Anurag said, "He has his own thing. So it's not what was expected. On 4 august 2023, alia shared a series of pictures from her engagement ceremony with her instagram handle. While in one picture the bride-to-be can be seen happily posing for the camera, in the other the newly engaged couple was seen kissing. On the day of their engagement, the couple wore white colored outfits. While alia looked stunning in a white embroidered lehenga, Shane matched her in a matching kurta-pyjama and jacket.
