The ministry of Road Transport and Highways introduced a new registration for vehicles on 28th August. The objective for the same being to make the transfer of vehicles from one state to another easy.

However, there’s a catch to it, only the following employees can avail this service:

1. Central and State government employees

2. Private Sector Companies with offices in more 4 states

3. Central and State PSUs.

How to register for this service?

1. Get an application for new plate at the original RTO of the vehicle purchase. This will require a government issued ID for the person’s employment.

2. Pay the road tax for 2 years or its multipliers like 4 or 6 years depending on the tenure and the place where car was purchased.

Note: Earlier there was a requirement for NOC from parent state for transition from one state to the other but with BH there’s no such requirement anymore. New state tax will be applicable for to the owner of the vehicle.

3. Renew all the other maintenance related documents to avoid penalty.

4. Refund as well is applicable if the owner wants to pay road tax in new state albeit there’s time left in old state.

Format of the BH Series:

The new registration under the BH series looks in the format of ‘YY BH #### XX’. YY stands for year of registeration with BH standing for BH series. #### stands for randomly allotted number from 0000 to 9999. The alphabets XX stands for for a sequence allocated from AA to ZZ
