Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the all-new GLC EV at the Munich Motor Show 2025, marking a bold step into the premium electric SUV segment. Set to hit global markets in early 2026, the GLC EV succeeds the EQE SUV and takes on rivals like the BMW iX3.

1. Built on the Electric-First MB.EA Platform

The GLC EV is the first Mercedes model on the new MB.EA platform, designed for 800V architecture. At launch, two powertrains will be available:

· GLC 300+ (RWD): Single motor, 374bhp

· GLC 400 4MATIC (AWD): Dual motors, 489bhp

Both use a 94kWh NMC battery with DC fast charging up to 330kW. Charging from 10–80% takes just 24 minutes, and a 10-minute top-up can add 303km of range. The GLC 400 offers up to 713km on the WLTP cycle.

2. Striking Exterior Design

The SUV features Mercedes’ illuminated grille with 942 backlit dots, complemented by star-shaped LED headlamps and a sleek taillight bar. Aerodynamics are optimized with a drag coefficient of 0.26, while 20-inch standard alloys (21-inch optional) complete the premium look.

3. Ultra-Futuristic Interior

The highlight is the 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, the largest ever in a Mercedes, combining driver, central, and passenger displays into one seamless panel. Powered by MB.OS, it offers AI-driven features, cloud connectivity, OTA updates, and over 40 apps, including Disney+ integration. Physical controls like rocker and roller switches are back for intuitive use.

4. Space, Comfort & Practicality

The GLC EV’s wheelbase is 84mm longer than the combustion model, providing 47mm more rear legroom and 17mm additional headroom. Boot capacity is 570 litres, expandable to 1,740 litres, plus a 128-litre frunk. air suspension and rear-axle steering enhance comfort and maneuverability.

5. Advanced Assistance & Safety

The MB.DRIVE system integrates 10 cameras, five radars, and 12 ultrasonic sensors, offering cooperative steering, braking, and acceleration. OTA updates allow continuous feature enhancements.

6. Next-Level Charging Features

The GLC EV supports MB.CHARGE Public, enabling advance reservation of charging points—a first in the industry. Bidirectional charging allows Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) power transfer.

7. Verdict: Setting New EV Benchmarks

With best-in-class range, innovative tech, premium design, and practicality, the mercedes-benz GLC EV is poised to redefine the mid-size electric SUV segment, offering a compelling mix of luxury, utility, and sustainability.
