Dharmana Prasada Rao, the minister of revenue, declared on monday that andhra pradesh would soon make Visakhapatnam its capital. He claimed that the two additional capitals—the legislative capital in amaravati and the judicial capital in Kurnool—would be merely ornamental and unimportant. Dharmana took part in the round table discussion held in support of the state government's decentralisation initiative in Srikakulam. The Sivaramakrishnan committee advocated decentralisation and counselled the government against locating the capital between vijayawada and Guntur, according to Dharmana.

He said, however, that chandrababu naidu had preferred to invest funds in the productive agricultural fields by turning them into a significant real estate project. The minister stated that in order to make Visakhapatnam the executive capital, chief minister Y S jagan Mohan reddy would shortly relocate there. According to him, the secretariat would also relocate with the chief minister, giving Visakhapatnam the necessary advancement and prominence in the state.

The minister did not mince words when he announced that before the 2024 general elections, the administration would make Visakhapatnam the administrative capital of the state. Additionally, he declared that nothing would prevent this government from relocating the secretariat to Visakhapatnam and designating this populous city as the state capital.
