In response to a question by tdp MP Kesineni srinivas in the lok sabha on Tuesday, Union minister for Agriculture narendra singh tomar provided a written response. In response, it was said that during the final three years of jagan Mohan Reddy's administration, the number of farmer suicides in andhra pradesh had significantly decreased.
The numbers were a tremendous pat on the back for the jagan Mohan reddy administration and a slap in the face to the tdp MP. According to the minister, 628 farmers committed suicide in 2019, the year jagan Mohan reddy gained office. The following year, in 2020, the number gradually decreased to 564, and in 2021, it further decreased to 481. According to the Union minister, the government's measures, new programme launches, and greater budgetary allocation all contributed to a decrease in farmer suicide rates nationwide.
The state governments, he explained, have a bigger role to play because agriculture is a state matter. He added that the Center's numerous programmes and activities merely serve to support the states' efforts. One wonders what the tdp MP's expression was when he received the Union Minister's incredibly disappointing response on the government!
