Overview


British prime minister Keir Starmer will undertake his first official visit to India from October 8–9, 2025.


The visit aims to reinforce the India–UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with a focus on advancing cooperation in trade, technology, defence, and climate action, under the shared framework of “Vision 2035.”


Agenda and Key Meetings


PM Starmer and indian prime minister Narendra Modi will meet in Mumbai on october 9.


Discussions will center on reviewing progress made across all pillars of the India–UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, established to guide bilateral cooperation over the next decade.


The talks will cover trade and investment, innovation, defence and security collaboration, climate and energy transitions, health partnerships, education exchanges, and people-to-people ties.


The leaders are expected to reaffirm their commitment to a free, open, and rules-based international order, while exploring new avenues for collaboration in regional and global affairs.


Economic and Trade Focus


Both sides will engage with business and industry leaders to enhance economic linkages.


A major highlight will be the review of progress on the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), seen as the cornerstone of the future bilateral economic relationship.

Participation in Global Fintech Fest 2025


Prime Ministers Modi and Starmer will jointly attend the 6th edition of the Global Fintech Fest in Mumbai.


Both leaders will deliver keynote addresses and interact with policymakers, innovators, and industry experts.

Significance of the Visit
