indigo: The incident where indigo airlines was fined Rs 5 lakh for treating a disabled special child is a lesson for us, says the CEO of the company. indigo Airlines' fine of Rs 5 lakh for handling disabled special child is a lesson for us, says CEO

Disabled child

Indigo airlines flight was scheduled to depart from ranchi Airport for Ranchi-Hyderabad on May 7. Then the parents came to pick up the disabled special boy. The boy had a health problem due to a long car journey. Subsequently, the boy returned to normal after his parents gave him proper food and loving care at the airport.

Denial of permission

But before boarding the plane, the manager of the indigo flight warned that the boy would only be allowed on the plane if he returned to normal or not. The boy's parents have been annoyed that the boy's flight would have caused more inconvenience to other passengers. He also insulted the boy by comparing his health to that of an alcoholic.

Investigation

Other passengers who saw this protested and condemned the manager's action. But the indigo manager went unnoticed. Fellow traveler Abhinandan Misra, who saw this, posted on the social networking site. As the incident went viral, the DGCA sought an explanation from indigo Airlines. In addition, 3 officers were appointed on the 9th and ordered to investigate the incident.

Penalty

At the end of the investigation, it was revealed that the way indigo employees treated the boy was wrong. Following this, the DGCA imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on Indigo.

Experiential lesson

Commenting on the incident, indigo airlines CEO Ronojoy Dutta said, “We will not appeal against the DGCA's fine in the case of a disabled special child. That incident is a lesson for us. The maturity with which our staff behaves in the case of children with disabilities is insufficient. This incident indicates that indigo airlines employees need more training to approach such an emotional issue. This incident provides an opportunity to learn from it. ”
