Last Monday, the Union cabinet adopted a law that would raise the age of marriage for women from 18 to 21 years old. In a statement issued yesterday, Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, general secretary of the All india Muslim Personal Law Board, said, marriage is an essential part of human life. Because it is related to the protection of the moral code of life, the age for marriage cannot be established.

As a result, many religions, including Islam, do not have a set age for marriage. Preventing marriage is cruel if the girl's parents believe their daughter is eligible for marriage before the age of 21. Furthermore, it restricts adults' personal independence, which has the potential to increase crime in society. As a result, he believes the government should reconsider its decision to raise the age of marriage for women.

On the Opposition's objections, the bill to alter the Child marriage Prohibition Act was tabled in the lok sabha and sent to the Bill Standing Committee. To prevent bogus voters, the election commission has urged the federal government to enact a number of measures, including attaching the Aadhaar number to the voter ID card and allowing 18-year-olds to add their names to the voter list as a four-day qualifying day every year.
