On Friday, january 14, a 21-year-old Bangalore Bsc undergraduate was detained for masquerading as a lesbian on Online and extorting women, mainly college ladies. In september 2021, Prapanch Nachappa, a native of Fraser township, created a phoney instagram profile under the name Prathiksha Bohra. He claimed to be a lesbian looking for a female companion.

He lured ladies who believed they were conversing with a girl into giving their nude photos after earning their trust. The women were then blackmailed by him, who threatened to upload the photographs unless they paid him. Nachappa allegedly informed his clients that he was into modelling and could aid people who wanted to be models, according to authorities. According to preliminary findings, he blackmailed at least Rs two millions from 30-40 students.

The perpetrator's bank data have still to be scanned by police in order to determine the actual amount swindled. According to one of the policemen in charge of the investigation, he told the victim that he was seeking for a lesbian connection. "To gain her trust, he sent her a few of nude photos that he said were his." He promised to pay Rs 4,000 for each nude photo she sent. "By that time, the victim had already shared a couple photos," the policeman explained. The victim had already detected a trap and had blocked him. Nachappa created a new account for her and began sending her messages demanding payment. If she didn't pay, he warned to publish the photos.
